Changing Email Clients to Use SMTP Authentication
If you have Outlook Express 5.0 or lower then you will need to upgrade
to Internet Explorer and Outlook Express 5.5 or higher. This can be done at:
Windows Update
If you have Netscape 4.6 or lower then we recommend you upgrade
to Netscape 4.7 or higher. This can be done at:
Netscape
Netscape 6.x and 7.x
1.) Open Netscape and click on Window then Mail & Newsgroups.
2.) Open the Edit menu and select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings.
The Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings dialogue box will open.
3.) At the bottom of the left side of the dialogue box, select Outgoing Server (SMTP).
4.) If the server name field reads either ntmail.eticomm.net or
mail.yourdomain.com then continue with the next step, otherwise click OK.
5.) Mark the box labeled User name and password. Then enter your user
name.
6.) Make sure Use secure connection (SSL) is set to Never.
7.) Click OK to save the changes made.
A prompt to enter your password will pop up the first time you try to send
or receive a message. Any subsequent attempts will not result in a prompt
to enter the password.
Netscape 4.7+
1.) Open the Edit menu and select Preferences. The Preferences dialogue
box will open, listing several categories down the left-hand side.
2.) Locate the Mail & Newsgroups category, and click the + sign next to
it. Subcategories will appear.
3.) Select the Mail Servers subcategory. The Mail Servers dialogue box
will open.
4.) In the section labeled Outgoing Mail Server, if the field
for Outgoing mail (SMTP) server shows either ntmail.eticomm.net or
mail.yourdomain.com then continue with the next step, otherwise click OK.
5.) Enter your user name in the Outgoing mail server user name field.
6.) Make sure Use Secure Socket Layer(SSL) or TLS for outgoing messages
is set to Never.
7.) Click OK to save the changes made.

Outlook or Outlook Express 5.5 or higher
1.) Open the Tools menu and select Accounts or Services or Email Accounts.
2.) Once in the Accounts window, click on the Mail tab.
3.) If you have more than 1 account listed, select your ETI mail account
which should have an account name of ntmail.eticomm.net or mail.yourdomain.com.
4.) Click on Properties.
5.) Click on the Servers tab at the top of the Properties window.
6.) If the Outgoing SMTP server is ntmail.eticomm.net or mail.yourdomain.com then
continue with the next step, otherwise click on Cancel then Close, then select
the properties for the next account and goto step 5.
7.) Click on the box under "Outgoing Mail Server" next to "My server requires
authentication" to check it.
8.) Click on OK.
9.) Click on Close.
Eudora
To configure authenticated SMTP in Eudora:
1.) From the Tools menu, Select "Options..."
2.) Click on the "Sending Mail" icon.
3.) Check the box next to "Allow authentication."
4.) Click the OK button.
Microsoft Entourage
To configure authenticated SMTP in Entourage:
1.) From the Tools menu, select "Accounts."
2.) Double-click your Mail account (it may be called mail.yourdomain.com).
3.) Click on the "Click here for advanced sending options" button.
4.) Check the box next to "SMTP server requires authentication."
5.) Select the radio button next to "Use same settings as incoming mail server."
6.) Click the OK button.
